The Grand Tour
Pack your trunks, roll out your carriages and join Sounds Historical as they take you on The Grand Tour! The programme takes you from England, across the channel to France, over the alps into the Austro-Hungarian Empire, south to Italy, taking in Venice and then back home via the Mediterranean. Works by Elisabeth Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Sammartini, William Williams, Telemann, Vivaldi, Guerra, De Fesch.
Birds
For centuries composers have been fascinated by Birdsong, incorporating all sorts of beautiful birds in to their music. We explore these pieces from the early Renaissance right through to the Baroque on a variety of instrumentation, whilst weaving information about each composer, their music and our instruments throughout the concert. Works by Van Eyck, Jannequin, Poglietti, Couperin, Orme.
