Current Touring Programme:
600 years Hildegard to Haydn
Hop into our time machine for a whistle-stop tour of musical history from the medieval through to the 18th century! Recorders, lutes, crumhorns, flutes, viols, violin... fasten your seatbelts as 600 years whizz by in 60 minutes! All carefully researched and arranged, to provide an accessible journey through the changes and developments of music and instruments across 600 years! We speak to our audiences throughout our concerts, keeping our performances inclusive and interactive - including a game of ‘instrument’ bingo! Composers will include Hildegard von Bingen, Isaac, Alfonso X of Castile, Machaut, Dalza, Schlick, Attaignant, Susato, Cima, Simpson, de la Barre, Telemann, and Haydn.
The Grand Tour
Pack your trunks, roll out your carriages and join Sounds Historical as they take you on The Grand Tour! The programme takes you from England, across the channel to France, over the alps into the Austro-Hungarian Empire, south to Italy, taking in Venice and then back home via the Mediterranean. Works by Elisabeth Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Sammartini, William Williams, Telemann, Vivaldi, Guerra, De Fesch.
The Bird Fancyer's Delight
For centuries composers have been fascinated by Birdsong, incorporating all sorts of beautiful birds into their music. We explore these pieces from the early Renaissance through to the Baroque (and beyond!) on over 30 different instruments, whilst weaving information about each composer, their music and our instruments throughout the concert. Works by Poglietti, Byrd, Van Eyck, Uccellini, Zahnhausen, Orme, Couperin, Arne, Morley
